According to Mashable, MySpace’s own video product is making some impressive strides, overtaking YouTube is the video-embed of choice on MySpace. Mashable’s labs calculates that there was an over 90% increase in the percentage of spaces using MySpace’s own video product, pushing the percentage of spaces using it to over 47%, ahead of YouTube at 40%.
You might recall earlier, shortly after MySpace’s acquisition, Mr. Murdoch was heard to say something to the effect that MySpace would overtake YouTube as the leader of on-line video in 60-90 days. With a growing beach head established on his own turf, it might not be such an outrageous proposition after all — especially given how fast YouTube is taking down its own videos and the purported tailing off in YouTube traffic.
