Melbourne University seeking participants for blog project

Melbourne University is set to begin a project called Blog for your Life to study the potential for learning through the use of blogging software.

According to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald (subscription required), Dr Elizabeth Hartnell-Young, of the university’s Centre for Applied Educational Research, who has carried out studies into young people and mobiles, and Dr Frank Vetere are carrying out the reasearch.

The researches have been inspired by Nokia’s Life blog, with the company providng 20 phones and software for use in the project.

“This software allows people to transfer the daily images and messages from their phone to a computer, and to write comments about selected items. They can send them to friends and distant family members, or keep them as a record for their own memories,” Dr Hartnell-Young said to the Herald.

Participants are required to share their photos, videos and SMS messages with the researchers, and return the phones once the research ends.
