As Hurricane Irene batters the East Coast an official Twitter account has been setup to give everyone a better idea of the hurricane’s path and destruction.
Along with telling people their homes have been wiped out the account is also rewtweeting messages from the official NYC Mayor’s Office Twitter account.
Users wishing to follow the account can visit @Irene.

The slogan “I don’t want to hurt anyone” may seem a bit silly but it doesn’t serve a tongue in cheek warning, letting everyone know that sticking around could be more than they bargained for, if you’ve been told to evacuate do so immediately, the @Irene Twitter account in the meantime can let you track when the storm has passed over your area.
