The issue of athletes being allowed to blog at the Beijing 2008 Olympics is to be discussed this week at the 119th IOC Session in Guatemala.
However, it looks as if the blogs must be purely personal in nature, relating to personal experiences, views and comments, and must not be used to criticise fellow competitors, coaches, or officials.
The IOC also recommends that the blogs not be used for financial gain, and they must not contain any multimedia elements, such as photos, video, or audio.
It still seems as if blogging will not be permitted during the Games themselves.
“Blogging is a legitimate form of personal expression available to all athletes at all times except during the Games” the committee wrote.
