Flipboard Partners with LinkedIn, Offers Better Performance On Every Level

Flipboard for iPadFlipboard on Thursday rolled out version 1.5 of their popular social news reading application for iPad and with that new release comes improved navigation, integration with LinkedIn and the ability to better share and find news.

Users of Flipboard can now explore as many feeds as they would like (instead of the former 21 feeds limit), while conducting cross-network searches on any subject the user chooses without using “complex” setup processes.

One very cool bit of integration is the ability to pull up a publications Twitter feed, explore what they have posted and then jump into those articles back in the flipboard app by clicking on Twitter URLs via the account:

The company has also announced new integration with LinkedIn which allows users to browse the social networks 30 individual industry news feeds. The program integrates with Flipboard style navigation, providing users with article titles and “share numbers.” For example an article titled “Tech In the Workplace” would display and state “Shared by John Doe and 85 other people.”  Users can also see the source (blogherald.com) before clicking through to an article.

The LinkedIn integration is so sleek that it actually beats out the original web version, see for yourself:

The company was previously preloading feeds on the iPad, while they are now using an external server to render the content before sending it to users, allowing for vastly improved render times. Just a quick warning, with the new speeds users now need to save articles to their “Favorites” section if they want to read them offline at another time.

The new updates mean Flipboard now supports LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Flickr with promises to deliver more integration as demand calls for it.
