Over 97% of Humans are Blogless

Bloggers Blog looks at the last Blog Herald Blog Count of 200 million blogs and makes a pertinent point: 97% of humans don’t have blogs. It’s an interesting way of looking at things that I’d repeat to those who don’t believe the figure (despite the fact that it’s derived, mostly, through legitimate means), most people in the world don’t have blogs. From a blogosphere perspective, as much as I’ve predicted we will peak at 400 million blogs (before the dead ones are written off and the number starts to decline) it also means there is a huge potential market yet to be reached in terms of blogging. To those who think there is a bubble (and I’m starting to think there is when it comes to Web 2.0 services), in the blogosphere there is still a lot of potential market place to conquer. Will blogs ever become like TV, where virtually every one has one? I don’t think so, because I think services such as Flickr have a better potential there, but certainly there is still a lot of room for growth.

Bring on the SixApart IPO. I’ll be buying shares…if the Blog Herald ends up selling for a reasonable amount.
