RSS alerting company MessageCast has been acquired by Microsoft.

The company’s service, LiveMessage, has been integrated into MSN’s service called MSN Alerts. According to Microsoft, “MSN Alerts is a free service that notifies you of time-sensitive events and information from respected sources. You can receive your alerts on your computer via MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger, or in your e-mail inbox, or both”.
