Ever wanted to try and knock out or damage your competition who use Google’s Blogger? Then Saturdays your day because thanks to a brainwave from Matt Haughey the mob is decending onto Blogspot blogs on a Saturday to be decided and flagging their hearts away at blogs they think might be spam blogs. If your writing on political topics or anything contentious as well watch out because the mob doesn’t care about collateral damage!
Even Biz Stone at Google has given his support, and why wouldn’t he, it means that Google’s Blogger team can put their legs up and allow good spirited bloggers to do their work for them. But as Biz notes, they might not actually be deleted, because apparently there is a special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun recipe Google has to identify a spam blog…which of course begs the question is if they are able to ascertain what a spam blog is compared to other blogs why the hell aren’t they cleaning them up now!
So, if you enjoy hunting in packs, get your two gallon hat out, put a picture of a six shooter on your mouse and flag away as soon as the date is announced. And since this is turning into upsetting 100 people in a week week, here’s a free tip to the spam bloggers who have probably already worked this out: want to really, really f*ck with the lazy people at Google’s Blogger: join in the flagging fun as well. I’d suggest you’d start with Blogger Buzz but unfortunately Google’s own blogs don’t have the flag option….funny that!
Here’s a thought, I really think the Google Adsense/ Adwords team are great, they are obviously profitable as well and they seem to manage to be able to delete Adsense accounts of those abusing the system. My free advice to Google: let the Adwords team take over Blogger!
My advice to those blogging using the Blogger Blogspot service (yet again). Run, run fast, don’t turn back. My book is getting closer to being finished and I’m now going back to re-writing it, where I’ve got a whole chapter on how to set up a blog at Blogger, I’m swapping it to MSN Spaces as a recommended first blogging service. Blogger has lost the plot.
