Intelliseek Unveils Blog-Analytics Tool to Track Political Buzz

Press release> What’s hot on the minds of the nation’s electorate this fall? The candidates’ stands on the economy, the environment or the war in Iraq? The next First Lady? The specter of another election tainted by claims of voter fraud or election miscounts? Intelliseek, a marketing analytics firm that helps companies and brands measure buzz and word-of-mouth, today launched Campaign Radar 2004 (http://politics.blogpulse.com or http://www.campaignradar.com), a free web service that analyzes and displays political issues and trends among the nation’s blog writers through the upcoming election. The service draws from Intelliseek’s BlogPulse, which tracks over two million blogs every day.

Powered by the same technology behind Intelliseek’s buzz monitoring services for Fortune 1000 brands, Campaign Radar 2004 provides daily analysis of key political issues being discussed in blogs, top links appearing in blogs and sample excerpts from bloggers who are spreading opinions about candidates, issues and the upcoming election season. (“Blog” is short for “web log,” an easily published online journal that now represents one of the fastest growing areas of consumer-generated media on the Internet).

In addition to daily lists of top issues and how they’re being discussed in the political blogosphere, Campaign Radar 2004 also will provide two daily trend graphs — one that tracks blog discussion on presidential and vice presidential candidates (Bush-Cheney; Kerry-Edwards; Nader-Camejo; Badnarik-Campagna) and a separate graph that tracks top issues: the war in Iraq, the economy, healthcare, the environment and education.

“Bloggers consistently serve as a form of early radar on key issues and trends,” said Pete Blackshaw, Intelliseek CMO. “Campaign Radar 2004 goes beyond traditional time-stamped polls to provide a real-time pulse check of this historic election.”

BlogPulse, named in September as a “Trend-Setting Product of 2004” by KMWorld magazine and by Entrepreneur magazine as one of 10 online resources to help people “stay in the know,” builds on Intelliseek’s expertise in locating and analyzing consumer-generated media (CGM): on boards, forums, ratings & review sites and direct company feedback. Intelliseek’s flagship BrandPulse(TM) product is used by major corporations and brands as a real time marketing “audit” tool to understand consumer perceptions and word-of-mouth patterns.

Blackshaw says the free service will be a valuable resource for businesses, the media, political analysts, campaign directors, political observers and the electorate. “The web is a powerful real-time ‘listening post.’ Keeping your ear to the pulse – whether the topic is related to business or politics – is a sure way to stay ahead and make better decisions.”
