HackADay not part of AOL deal: Calacanis

AOL Weblogs Inc., head guru Jason Calacanis has writtten that the HackADay blog currently on the Weblogs Inc., network was not sold to AOL and will remain an independent site.

Writes Calacanis:

“Our thinking was that HackADay frequently gets itself into hot water doing things like voiding warranties, unlocking DRM schemes, and the like. This is what makes HackADay a success in fact’โ‚ฌโ€it’โ‚ฌโ„ขs unfiltered and no one tells them to stop doing what they’โ‚ฌโ„ขre doing. In fact, we’โ‚ฌโ„ขve encouraged them to be’โ‚ฌยฆ ummm’โ‚ฌยฆ. ‘โ‚ฌล“creative.’โ‚ฌ?”
