Another Googlicious Revenue Stream? (CPA Ads)

It looks like the search engine king has released a new type of ad, one that will please many businesses (especially those concerned over click fraud).

Simply called Google referrals, these new ads seem to be a cross between Google’s original referral ads (with Firefox, Google Pack, AdSense and AdWords) and a CPC ad, except users only get paid when a transaction is completed.

(Inside AdSense Blog) With the referrals beta, you can search for products that match up directly with your site’s content. And you can customize your referral units to match the look and feel of your site, making it easier than ever to find a referral ad that fits in seamlessly with your site’s design and content. […]

As with our current Google referrals, you’ll generate earnings when your visitors click through to an advertiser’s site and complete an action defined by your advertisers, such as a sale or sign-up. Because these actions are often more involved than a simple click or impression, advertisers pay more for these referrals, which can translate into higher earnings for your site.

This new referral program does have the potential to succeed, perhaps denting some of the profits of both Amazon and Auction Ads (owned by Ebay). Hopefully Google will keep this system “open,” and not require users to have a Google Checkout account (as that would spell certain doom for this program).

Users can sign up with the program over here, although there is no word on how long this will be open. This beta test is open to current AdSense publishers, so unless you are a Google-phobe, you may want to consider having your blog assimilated by AdSense in order to share in the spoils.
