America Online to unveil free e-mail service

Following recent news that AOL was to open up its blogging product to every body after previouly being restricted to AOL members, AOL has announced that they will also begin offering a free e-mail service today tied to its instant messaging service.

Reuters reports that AOL will integrate its recently launched digital phone service in the coming months, when the AIM software will be rewritten, allowing users to retrieve voice mail, e-mail and instant messages from any computer, as well as blog to their AOL blogs.

The new service will match Microsoft’s offering, where MSN Messenger integrates with blogging product MSN Spaces and free email service Hotmail.
