After dethroning Typepad for the bronze, it looks as if Tumblr has reached yet another milestone by surpassing one billion posts!
Today, Tumblr passed one BILLION posts!
I never imagined we would make it this far so quickly, and apparently neither did Jacob when he designed the About page.

Tumblr has yet to reveal which member published the billionth post, but either way this is quite an accomplishment for a company that did not exist four years ago.
Despite its smaller stature (at least when compared against rivals), Tumblr’s presence has forever altered the blogosphere as a whole, with services such as LiveJournal, Typepad, and even WordPress.com mimicking the sites reblog feature.
The company has even provided fans with robust mobile apps upon the iPhone, Blackberry and Android devices, as well as providing robust support for feature phone users which dominate the globe.
Although Tumblr has a long ways to go before it can effectively compete against WordPress (and to a larger extent Blogger), the micro blogging site for now seems destined to break into the mainstream as a serious blogging tool.
