Tumblr Boosts Strong Community Statistics

Today, micro- or ADHD- blog service, Tumblr founder David Karp published very promising statistics for the free platform. According to Karp’s announcement Tumblr had more than 50 million visitors in July, 255 million impressions and averaged 650.000 post per day.
Numbers are disputed by Techcrunch and Quantcast ranks the service at 13 million visitors for July. Tumblr averaged 5000 new members daily in July.

Most interesting about Tumblr’s statistics is the very active community, which largely outperforms the WordPress.com community activity: every 12th visitor interacts on the platform and the social platform options result in an average of 5 interactions per posted item. The WordPress.com community averages 1.5 comments per post.

The Brooklyn based startup offers its users more than 180 community created themes and also announced the launch of its Tumblupon toolbar. To avoid brand confusion and a possible lawsuit with StumbleUpon Karp already rallied the community to help rename the Tumblupon toolbar.
