Tulsa World v Bloggers

The Tulsa World newspaper has decided to add its name to the growing list of old media companies and people who dislike blogs this week, after sending cease and desist letters to two prominent Tulsa bloggers.

The two bloggers targeted were Tulsa City Councilor Chris Medlock, who maintains a personal blog at Blogger, and Michael Bates of Batesline.

The letters allege copyright infringement and that the two bloggers reproduced articles or linked to articles on the newspaper’s website without authorisation.

Whether the newspaper understood the concept of “Fair Use” was not clear at the time of writing.
