SixApart primes itself for a takeover: set to acquire LiveJournal

In what can best be seen as a fattening before the final play, rumour has it that Six Apart, the company founded by Mena and Ben Trott which incorporates payware blogging software MovableType and hosted solution TypePad, is about to acquire Live Journal, for an undisclosed amount. The deal is apparently a mix of stock and cash, and will be announced sometime later this month. If the rumour is true, then Six Apart will become the largest blogging company in the world, with over 3.5 million users made up from the over 1 million currently with SixApart owned properties, and approximately 2.5 million live users on Live Journal. If the rumour is true it sets up SixApart as the Number one acquisition target for big media companies wanting to take a big step into the Blogosphere in 2005.
