Pizza Operators suffering due to Katrina, launch blog

I’ve read about pets needing help, I’ve even heard on NPR (via NewsRadio) that the Coffee Industry in the United States is facing shortages (apparently 25% of all US Coffee goes through New Orleans) but apparently Pizza operators are suffering as well, at least according to the blurb for the new blog from Pizza Marketplace.

There’s also a bright side to the new Katrina related blog: apparently news is pouring in (their words, not mine) of Pizza Delivery boys and Domino’s Franchise owners undertaking massive acts of bravery to make sure the Pizza is still delivered in 40 minutes so as to avoid making it free.

No news yet as to whether donations of ham and pineapple will be sent into the disaster zone.

  • Really tasteless joke ahead (pun intended)… there shouldn’t be a problem getting fresh Anchovies…

BTW, the link to the ABC News bit on the coffee industry isn’t working. That would be a timely one for me to reference on one of my sites

  • Link fixed, but it only points to NewsRadios home page, not a transcript or similar, I literally heard the story in the car the other day, there might be a transcript on the NPR home page.

  • “Domino’s Franchise owners undertaking massive acts of bravery to make sure the Pizza is still delivered in 40 minutes so as to avoid making it free.”

Domino’s FAQ: ” 2. What happened to the 30-minute guarantee?
The company’s 30-minute guarantee has been replaced with a re-emphasis on product quality as demonstrated in the “Made Fresh, Arrives Fresh” Guarantee.”

I.E. No free pizza. Domino’s sucks anyway.

  • We must be slow. It was 40 minutes in Australia when it ran a long, long time ago. Yes Arun, its been replaced, it was a joke .

  • I know, just pointing it out.. Besides restaurants aren’t the only businesses suffering because of the hurricane. It will take years for the whole region to recover from this devastating storm.
