Horror Flick on MySpace
Want a reason to visit MySpace? Are you into horror flicks, especially those gory things, with zombies and vampires? Yeah?
Then maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea to release the vampire horror movie Beyond the Rave (IMDB) on MySpaceTV (which is MySpace, really), from Hammer Films. New parts of the movie will be released every Monday and Wednesday for the next ten weeks or so. And if you prefer games, well, there’s one available.
I’m a bit curious as to whether this is a PR stunt for Hammer Films, which apparently recently got another life when John de Mol (who did The DJ Kat Show according to Wikipedia) bought it, according to the press release, or if it’s a MySpace thing to remind people that they’re still hanging in there.
It’s an interesting stunt no matter what, but I won’t follow it. Horror movies isn’t my cup of tea.
Thord Daniel Hedengren is a designer, writer, and blogger, and also the former editor of The Blog Herald. He used to be a hotshot in the gaming industry in Sweden, but sold everything and went International. Most recently he wrote a book called Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog, and does loads of kickass design.
That really is a pretty creative idea. Never heard of such a thing. Well, good luck to ’em!
MySpaceTV is interesting in the fact that it can bring new life to movies or shows that never did well commercially, or just bring a larger fanbase to those movies that deserve a bigger following. I am not a horror fan either, but it’ll be interesting to see if something like this turns out to be successful.
