Google’s recent update to its profile page structured data guidelines offers enhanced visibility through Google Search. This modification to creator’s profile pages promises richer search results and a significantly improved search engine optimization, thus enriching the digital presence of creators.
Formerly popular with forums and discussion communities, the structured data tool now includes author details from any profile page. As such, creators like culinary bloggers can display their professional info—like culinary achievements, tiktok followers, or published works more comfortably. This tool isn’t exclusively for structured data; it is a flexible, dynamic platform that can fit the demands of multiple industries.
The change also involves a rephrasing of the introductory paragraph to clarify Google’s use of structured data in search results. Now, ‘Perspectives’ has been supplanted with references to ‘Forums’, more closely aligning with Google Search.
Enhancing visibility with updated Google guidelines
Because it is 26% shorter, the revised introductory paragraph delivers clearer information.
With this recent update, the ProfilePage structured data markup—applicable on any creator’s profile page— has accrued further importance. It offers a chance for better listings in search results, regardless of the presence within a community or not. This step towards increased visibility could better enable communication and discovery for creators universally.
Google’s updated guidelines further show that other structured data tools, such as Article and Recipe structured data with author details can be linked to pages with the ProfilePage markup. Although the uptake of the ProfilePage markup among food bloggers hasn’t lived up to initial expectations, successful case studies, including the profile of Recipe writer J. Kenji López-Alt, shed light on the significant prospects it promises for improving search listings.
