100 blogs in 100 days, day 27: Gone Away
Day 27 of 100 blogs in 100 days takes us to an Englishman living in a strange land…the United States, and in a state probably best known to the world due to one of my favorite Roger and Hammerstein musicals (well favorite after South Pacific), from Clive Allen.
Blog: Gone Away
About: I may live in Oklahoma now but I’m English. You don’t really expect me to announce that Gone Away is the best blog on the net, do you? Thousands claim that and I’m trained from birth not to bang my own drum. Let’s just say that, judging from the number and quality of comments, plenty of people seem to like what I do…
So drop on by where the corn is as high as an elephants eye at Gone Away and let Clive know what you think without signing the words “Oklahoma..OK!”
(Note, most people my age and younger will probably read this and think: Riley, lay off the booze, older readers will know what I’m talking about…at least I hope :-) )
I make comments on Gone Away almost every day because Clive gives you something to get your teeth into. A writer of merit and talent ~ awaiting a shrewd publisher for his book ~ he spreads his wisdom and wry humour via his blog. It’s a bit like Laphroaig whisky though, you have to get used to it … then you’re hooked.
Thanks for this, Duncan. And I left a little present on my blog by way of appreciation… ;)
I, too, am a regular on Gone’s blog, although I don’t always comment. Mostly because sometimes things are beyond me…
Be forewarned, once you visit, you’ll forever return :)
Regular reader here too, and I can only nod frantically and agree at this choice of a blog for the 100 blogs a day project. “Gone Away” presents really interesting and thought-provoking posts, and even if I don’t comment on all of them, they’re never short of a good discussion to read :)
If you are looking for a site that successfully use the comments system and a group of people involved in daily discussions, Gone Away has done it.
Duncan, page 2 of “100 days 100 blogs” category is broken. I can’t get the submission instruction anymore. Thanks!
Fabulous choice. I read it every day. He’s insightful, witty, and writes like a dream. People are always hanging around discussing his postings. His site defines community.
I know another Englishman living in the US with a blog! His blogs pretty active too. Check out The English Guy
So glad to see Clive’s blog on your list of 100. It’s a great read – every entry is though provoking and insightful.
