Movable Type Monday: Mobile Blogging, Plugins, System Architecture, and jQuery

Happy Monday, folks! First off, for any of you that are trying, or thinking about trying, Motion — the social networking app built on Movable Type — a new beta was released today. I have not tried it myself, nor have I found release notes for it. If you have tried it, let us know what’s new in the comments.

This week, Chad Everett released version 4.2.0 of MT-Notifier. This version includes some bug fixes and the ability to specify a base URL for a script.

Byrne Reese, as part of his work with the folks at iThemes, has released a jQuery dialog theme for Movable Type. If you’re developing plugins for Movable Type using jQuery, this will help your dialogs blend seamlessly with the MT admin. Thanks, Byrne!

Byrne also wrote an overview of what one needs to set up a scalable system architecture for MT. As your site and traffic grow, MT will need more resources to keep chugging along. Byrne doesn’t go into specifics, but the architecture he lays out will help point you in the right direction.

Finally, Kim Hyok is using Motion to microblog from his cell phone in Korea. Some of the information is only relevant if you’re in Korea, but regardless it’s interesting to see the combination of technologies he brings together to make mobile microblogging happen.

What have you done with MT lately? Let us know in the comments.
