Being a blogger is not just about writing. Writing is a big part of it, of course, but to get anywhere you really have to make contacts, meet people, build friendly relationships. Success with any online endeavor is as much about people skills as creative or technical. Blogging conferences are an ideal and fun way to fulfill this side of your blogging.
Now I am not saying you have to speak at conferences. Just turn up and take part.
For anyone around the UK, I just paid for my ticket for WordCamp UK and if anyone wants to hear my talk about “Making a Living From Your Blog” then you need to get your ticket too :)
As well as my entrance ticket I need to buy accommodation and make arrangements for my travel down, so you might still not see me for the whole weekend, but I am hoping and trying.
Even if you don’t find the topics on the running order all that compelling, there is something special about getting together a group of like minded people to geek out about blogging that you will not want to miss. If you can’t make it to the UK, find out where your closest conference is going to be or maybe even kick off putting one together!
I’m going to do my best to be there for as much of this one as possible so I hope to see you there :)
