Install The WordPress Popup Scheduler Plugin For Better Readers Engagement

Getting your visitors’ attention and encouraging them to interact on your blog is often a hard task. Popups are the obvious choice when it comes to this sort of situation, but you don’t want to annoy your visitors or run them away. This is why the WordPress Popup Scheduler plugin is the ideal choice because it has numerous customization options, which allow you to customize it to suit your needs and be less obtrusive. As you’ll see from the customization options, popups don’t have to be annoying or boring. And this is the reason why we have installed it on our psd to html conversion blog.

Here’s what you can do with the WordPress Popup Scheduler plugin.

When to Show

You can decide when you’d like your popup to appear to your visitors, by choosing one of the following options:

  • When new visitors arrive
  • When visitors return for the (second, third, fourth or fifth) visit
  • Starting from a specific date for a certain number of days or for every few number of days
  • At all times
  • Whenever you make changes to the popup content

Set a Delay

You can have the popup show immediately when a visitor lands on the page or you can delay it for a specific number of seconds. We did that in our business neon signs store because we wanted the users to be able to learn more about the product first. So it’s probably best to wait a few seconds so that your visitors aren’t bombarded as soon as they land on your site.

Where to Show

You can choose to show the popup on your homepage, the visitors’ landing page (wherever they happen to first land when coming to your site), or any other specific page by entering the URL.

Here you can also choose where you’d like the popup to be displayed on the screen. You can choose the center of the screen, or any other location on the screen. If you choose to enter a location, you can choose the exact distance from the left and top of the window by entering a measurement in pixels.

How to Show

You can choose to have an effect or no effect at all for your popup. The choices here are: place before first post (no effect), place after first post (no effect), simple popup, drop down, fade in, or lightbox.

What to Show

There are a few things that you can define in this area such as the width of your popup along with the headline text (ie. Welcome to My Site), close text (ie. click to close), and the colors of your header and close text.

Rich Text Editor

The plugin comes with a rich text editor that you can use to create the actual message that will display on your popup. You can insert links and HTML here, customize your colors, change the font size and style, and much more.

The background color for your popup can be defined here as well. If you need to customize the look even further, you an do this via the popup_css.css file from within the plugin editor.

See Also

You can also enable or disable auto-scrolling from here. If enabled, the popup will follow your user wherever they scroll on the page. So if they scroll up, the popup will move up and vice versa. Many users might fight this annoying, so use at your own risk.

Preview Your Popup

Finally, after you’re all done you can preview your popup and see how it will look to your visitors. This is nice because you can make sure it’s just the way you want it before actually enabling it on your site.

As you can see, this plugin is perfect for very many things like posting announcements and encouraging people to subscribe to your RSS feed. With the ability to add HTML, there are many possibilities like adding widgets or even short forms. This is your chance to get your readers’ attention and improve engagement on your blog, so be sure to make it count!
