Movable Type Monday: Operations Manual, Plugin Updates, Desktop Blog Software, and More

March 16, 2009 by Billy Mabray

Happy Monday, folks! I hope you enjoyed last week’s interview with Byrne Reese. Byrne is back this week with the creation of an open source operations manual. The goal of the project is to create a set of best practices for installing, running, and maintaining Movable Type. Byrne is looking for collaborators, so if you have experience managing MT, consider getting involved.

Plugins

Stop Design Photo Gallery — More from Byrne Reese. This is the set of original templates from the Photo Gallery plugin. As mentioned previously, it’s been spun off into its own plugin for those that want to keep that design rather than the new Mid-Century templates.

Poll Position, Poll Position: Champion — Dan Wolfgang has released updates to his polling plugins. Poll Position includes updates to its use of Google Charts, and Poll Position: Champion includes a new Poll Status tag and updates to the custom field types.

In other news, Brainjuice has released a new version of Blogo — their Mac desktop blog editor and Twitter client — which has better support for MT. In particular, it now supports custom permalinks and MT tags. Has anyone used Blogo? I’d love to hear how well it works with MT.

Finally, Website Magazine has posted their list of essential MT plugins. Lots of good plugins on the list, particularly Action Streams and Typepad Antispam.

Did a favorite plugin of yours not make the list? Let us know in the comments.
